Where is this journey?

This is a sea kayak expedition format through the Strait of Magellan, Francisco Coloane Marine Park, the fjords of southern Tierra del Fuegoas Parry, Ainsworth and Almirantazgo, El Aguila Bay, and San Isidro Lighthouse.  A complete adventure through the very end of South American continent.

who is this trip designed for?

The trip is designed for true nature and adventure lovers, active people who are willing to experience  nature, under Patagonian conditions, who also like good service and comfort in the mothership and  enjoy sharing with other adventurers a good wine, a good experiences and nice adventures. No need to be skilled in the techniques of sea kayaking, but willing to learn, to follow instructions from our expert guides and leaders ,who will help and assist you at all times becoming a full expedition team.

This trip mix adventure and direct contact with nature, with the comfort and security that provides a Mothership or support vessel. It is a soft-adventure, but it goes a little further ... every place we  will visit have points of interest; either historical, geographical, in flora & wildlife; - such as the humpback whale that returns to these channels to feed each year, traveling between Ecuador and sub-Antarctic waters-, scientifically , cultural, typical food, history and legacy of the nomad cultures of  native sailors ;who now we imitate to explore its domains in fragile boats, as by kayak in the same way as they did only accompanied by wildlife in these waters, like; penguins, black-browed albatross, elephant seals, sea lions, petrels and cormorants, also with whales and dolphins. 

Kayak Agua Fresca organized this expedition, in partnership with another company using a Support vessel to carry on this trip best know as Mothership. 

After sailing through the continent the boat will brings us to Francisco Coloane Marine Park created  for protection, conservation and research of biodiversity , specially the Humpback Whale . We  will explore the main points of marine fauna and most beautiful places of the park. 

Then we move on our Vessel  to the next point of interest, visiting the Marine Park and the most interesting fjords of southern Tierra del Fuego, we will enjoy a privileged view of the Cordillera Darwin and its glaciers, making this trip designed to discover every day a different location.

We will explore an ancient whale station and a centenary lighthouse in hour way back to our starting point.  

Finally we return to Punta Arenas on our 5th day.

Day 1: Punta Arenas – Cape Froward – Francisco Coloane                  Marine Park

16:00 Pickup of passengers from hotel or place to be confirm by the          passenger

18:00 Boarding and Departure from Punta Carrera, beginning of the           sailing through Magellan Strait

19:00 Welcome on board meeting the staff, and show to passengers          the boat facilities.

20:00 Briefing: useful and technical info and activities for the next            day

20:30 Dinner

Day 2: Francisco Coloane Marine Park – Shag Pass

07:30 Breakfast

08:00 Rendez vouz with passengers at the Deck for disembark in the          zodiac boats to the beach. 

09:00 Kayak Briefieng :Paddling techniques and safety  (on the                  beach)

09:30 Paddling start at Shag pass (wildlife route)

12:00 Return to the beach to connect with zodiac boats and back to          the support vessel.

13:00 Lunch time

15:00 Rendez vouz with passengers on deck for disembark in the              zodiac boats to the beach. 

15:30 Paddling start from Shag pass to Castellano Island (second                                                                                                                      point whale watching). Four hours journey by inland                                                                                                                              waterways, to see waterfalls, rivers, valleys and islands, with                                                                                                                    great scenic beauty.

Day 3 Magellan Strait –Almirantazgo Fjord (Fire Land)

07:30 Breakfast

08:30 Rendez vouz with passengers at the deck for disembark in the          zodiac boats to the beach. 

09:30 Paddling activity start at Ainsworth Bay area.  Wildlife                      observation (elephant seals colony)

11:30-12:00 Snack at the beach

12:00 Hike to Glacier lookout (Darwin’s mountain range route)

14:00 Return to the vessel on board the Zodiac boats 

14:30 Lunch time

14:30 – 18:00 Sailing towards Parry Fjord. (Anchor at amphitheater            zone)

Day 4: Parry Fjord–kayaking and sailing boat – El Águila Bay

08:00 Breakfast

08:30 Rendez vouz with passengers at the deck for disembark in the          zodiac boats to the beach. 

09:00 Paddling towards glacier tongue at Darwin’s mountain range

11:30 Return to the mother ship with the Zodiac boats 

12:00 Lunch time

14:00 Rendez vouz with passengers on deck for disembark in the              zodiac boats to the beach. 

14:10 Sailing in the zodiac boats towards glacier tongue to observe            detachments of icebergs.

16:00 Return to the vessel on board the Zodiac boats 

16:30 Departure of mother ship boat towards El Aguíla Bay

Day 5: El Aguila Bay– San Isidro Cape – Carrera Bay Port

08:00 Breakfast

08:30 Rendez vouz with passengers at the deck for disembark in the zodiac boats to the beach. 

09:30 Kayak paddling activity sailing from El Aguila bay to San Isidro lighthouse

12:00 Return to the beach to connect with zodiac boats and back to the mother ship. Departure sailing towards Carrera Bay. 

13:00 Lunch time. Trip closing ceremony and gift delivery

15:00 Arrival to Carrera Bay, landing and ground transfer bus to hotel in Punta Arenas.

16:30 Arrival at Punta Arenas
